Holes in the Somewhere—a book of short stories by Richard R. Brown

Recently, I received in the mail a courtesy copy of Richard R. Brown’s new book, Holes in the Somewhere ©2026 from Lightning Source LLC. This was not unexpected, as Richard had said he was working on a book, but the final product was handsome, indeed. With a cover design by Ann Weinstock and 14 great stories, this is a treasure that will have a permanent spot on my bookshelves. As a hobby publisher, I have had contributing writers take their skills all the way to the New York Times Best Seller list and it looks like I may have that thrill and privilege again.

Richard has been a contributor at Black Petals since 2020 and we’re always glad to see his byline because his stuff is usually right up our alley. At BP, we like the strange stories and the creepier the better. From a crumbling trackside shack with strange properties in the title story, “A Hole in the Somewhere,” to “Bells in the Woods,” one of my personal favorites, I guarantee there is a “gotcha” story in here for just about anybody, and if you don’t find at least one that bothers you just as you’re about to fall asleep, you’re made of sterner stuff than I am.

You can have this fine work on Kindle from Amazon for $4.99, or you can get a handsome copy like mine for $11.99. You should add this one to your collection.
