Mary's Valentine: Poem by Chris Friend

Mary’s Valentine

Chris Friend

Shelly’s heart lies draped in a silk scarf

And hidden in an oak drawer

Placed there by the mother of Frankenstein

Chris Friend is a writer/historian/artist/poet from Parkersburg, West Virginia. His column, “Mars” has been a fixture at Black Petals for years and occasionally, he will slip us a poem or two.
