Spontaneous Generation: Poem by Joseph Danoski

Spontaneous Generation

Joseph Danoski

Like pollution with no solution,

Came the Industrial Revolution;

Hardened men with hearts of coal,

Iron bodies without a soul.

Like desperation's aspiration,

Came the spontaneous generation;

Fallen spawn of fear and dread,

The children of the living dead.

Like combustion with no instruction,

They're ready, Hellbent

On self destruction.

On a night of urban blight,

Their fires rise to light the night.

No wrong, no right nor black or white;

They gather for the final fight.

Living disgrace of a dying race,

Thousands of fools with just one face;

Swinging the chain in fields of Cain,

Insane and acting out their pain.

And I'm the crazy graveyard kid,

Trying my best to raise the lid.
