Everything Is Calm Now: Poem by Donna Dallas

Everything Is Calm Now

Donna Dallas

You’re slipping

once mad prophet

twice rabbit hole friend

as of late

you stupor through unending

YouTube videos

that claim the prophet is yet to be

And I

your prior salvation

empty of the Eucharist

sloppy as always

spill the wine

you stare

as if I have become your colossus

better the one you know than not

The calm terrifying

when your eyes are open

and fixated

on wine spilling off the table

onto our dirty floor
